What makes the program special? What is unique about it?2024-12-10T17:18:43-05:00

This program features monthly “Learning Labs,” which are longer than weekly classes.  The focus for the asana practice will be exploring Geeta Iyengar’s teachings, drawing from Kerry’s first trip to India in 2015, and various conventions, recordings, and texts of Geeta’s instruction. Participants will also delve into pranayama (breathwork) and yoga philosophy. Over the 6-month immersion, curated readings and home practice sequences will be assigned to explore and reflect on philosophical concepts. The monthly meetings provide an opportunity to gather, share, and discuss with fellow yogis to augment and clarify yogic concepts.

What do the monthly reading/reflection assignments include?2024-12-10T17:13:12-05:00

The monthly reading assignments help students understand key yoga concepts and yogic philosophy. Students will explore these concepts through direct experience in short home practice sequences. They will read 10-20 pages of essays and background on yogic principles, as well as sections from Preliminary Course that cover basic instructions for yoga poses, their stages, and benefits. Additionally, students should bring written reflections from their experiences to share in one-on-one or group discussions at the monthly gatherings.

Can I attend online?2024-12-10T17:14:12-05:00

Yes!  In-person attendance is highly encouraged and for participants that are not able to attend in studio, an online option is available.  Online attendees should be familiar with basic standing and seated poses, regularly practice inversions, confidently use props, and know how to practice independently.

What if I miss a session?2024-12-10T17:14:53-05:00

Recordings of the asana class will be made available upon request if you should miss a session.  Recordings accessible for 3 months following the session.

What If I can’t make all the sessions?2024-12-10T17:15:35-05:00

Participants are encouraged to commit to and attend all the sessions.  However, there are always exceptions and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis (email Kerry).

Can I pay in installments?2024-12-10T17:19:06-05:00

Yes, please email Kerry to arrange.

Are there scholarships available?2024-12-10T17:19:38-05:00

Financial assistance and scholarships are available through our regional association, Iyengar Yoga Association of New England.  View details at their webpage and Contact Kerry to learn more.

Is this a Teacher training program?2024-12-10T17:18:15-05:00
